RATED BATTLEGROUND TIPS & TRICKS

KNOW YOUR SPAWN POINTS

Hey everyone and welcome to skillcapped and today we're doing something fun We're gonna be covering 10 different tips and tricks that you can utilize inside of raided battlegrounds or even just normal battlegrounds These are going to be ranging from anything between settings gameplay tips or even map knowledge and to be honest You may know a few of these tips that we cover But sometimes you hear those little nuggets of information that really help to improve your gameplay Let's start off the video with a tip you can put to use on every map and that's when you die Where you respawn is not actually random on most maps There are multiple graveyards and spawn points and at what part of the map you die on dictates where you're going to spawn Let's take battle for Gilneas as an example horde spawn here and Alliance spawn here and here We have the lighthouse if your team holds lighthouse the graveyard is situated directly on the base However, if you die on the base, you'll spawn at the closest graveyard that isn't lighthouse This is a mechanic added to newer battlegrounds to make it easier for Teams to assault bases what you may not know though is that you're able to trick this mechanic by walking out past the water So the other side of this line the same rule applies to water works and as long as you're behind the water You'll spawn on the base as mentioned though This isn't unique to just battle for Gilneas the other map you can abuse this on is on temple of Khaatmogu The map is cut in half if you die on the left side you spawn on the right side and vice versa With Alliance spawning at the top and horde at the bottom you can use this knowledge to always Know where the enemies are going to spawn and make sure you and your team remain grouped throughout the battleground

TEMPLE ORBS EXPLAINED

Speaking of Temple of Katmogu, our next tip is more of an explanation, and that's how the point system works on this map, as knowing this can give you an edge. When holding an orb, you gain more or less points based on your position on the map.

The middle awards 6 points every 5 seconds, decreasing to 4 in the inner structure, and then 2 once you leave the structure. If you enter either spawn point, you gain 0.

Kills also reward points, giving you 10 points for every kill, so don't die for free. The big trick on Temple that not everybody knows though, is that there is a mechanic which rewards you bonus points.

This kicks in after you've been holding 4 orbs for 45 seconds. This then gives you a massive 4 times the point gain, corresponding to where you are holding the orb, allowing you to rapidly gain a point lead.

So always aim to get 4 orbs and hold them for as long as possible.

RETURN FLAGS INSTANTLY

Have you ever tried returning or picking up a flag after it drops and can't because a player's stacked on top? Or are always just too slow in general?

Well, hidden in Blizzard's settings under Key Binds is what's called Interact with Mouse Over. Something a lot of RBG players do is bind this to both mouse wheel up and mouse wheel down, but any easy to spam bind works.

Then, when you expect the enemy flag carrier, or even your own, to drop the flag, just place your cursor over them and spam your bind. Nobody will ever be able to return quicker than you again.

BATTLEGROUNDENEMIES

One must-have add-on if you want to do anything Battleground related is Battleground Enemies. This add-on has a ton of features, such as showing you diminishing returns, your dots or debuffs on the target, how long until that player spawns, and more importantly, it gives you the ability to target enemies from anywhere.

You can use this to then see the location of players by looking for their nameplate. This is super important for tracking defenders and incoming attackers to your base.

We'll leave a link for this must-have add-on in the description below.

SPEED CAPPING

This next tip is a great way to gain a huge advantage from the get-go and can be applied on both Arathi Basin and Battle for Gilneas, that is, speed capping. This can be done specifically on the Alliance side of Battle for Gilneas and requires either a Druid or Demon Hunter and also a Rogue.

You follow the route on screen, so run up the elevated part here, jump and then either Vengeful Retreat or Flap and then follow it with either a Dash or Fel Rush. Finishing off with your Soul Shape.

Have your Rogue follow, Shadow Step you last second and then Smoke Bomb and the base should be yours. The other variant of this is on Arathi Basin and can be done on both sides of the map.

If you're on the Alliance side, you'll need either a Shaman or Priest for Waterwalking or Levitate. Same as before, use your mobility, finish off with Soul Shape.

And then have your Rogue Smoke Bomb you. Some tricks to make these even quicker are by having your Warlock sacrifice his pet.

This in turn procs Swift Patrol if you play with the Naya Soulbind. You can also have your Warlock play with the pillars of the Dark Portal Legendary and make you a Demonic Gateway instantly as the game starts, making these tactics almost impossible to counter.

USE THE ZONE MAP

Awareness is one of the most important aspects of Raided Battlegrounds, and knowing where your teammates are at all times is one way to improve your awareness. But opening your map every few seconds to see who's where and what's going on isn't very optimal, especially during combat.

A feature to help with this is the Zone Map. This tiny pop-off mini-map can be opened by hitting Shift-M.

If you've unbound this, you can find it in the Intervace panel named Toggle Zone Map.

This allows you to always keep track of where your team are at any point in the game, as well as what bases you hold and all the other important information you need throughout the game, just without the problem of covering your whole screen.

You can then adjust the opacity and move the map anywhere you want on your screen.

SWAPPING GEAR

Another very overlooked aspect of Raided Battlegrounds is your ability to swap gear. Throughout Battlegrounds, as long as you're not in combat, you can swap gear at any time.

What makes this strong is your ability to swap between different legendaries based on the scenario. If you're defending, you can equip a Cephuz for the crowd control reduction.

If you're teamfighting, you can equip your best teamfight legendary. And then if you're going to attack bases, you can equip your best skirmish legendary.

Some examples of this are on Shamans. You can use the incredibly strong Deep Tremor stone legendary and summon your earth elemental.

Once it expires, you can then drop combat and swap back to your standard legendary. It's not just legendaries this can be utilized for, but also trinkets.

For example, you can have a gladiator's medallion equipped, and then once you've used it, swap to relentless for the rest of the fight. Or even use your shackles and then swap to a proc or on-use trinket.

This is honestly one of the most overpowered aspects of Raided Battlegrounds, and not enough players abuse it.

SLOW FALL FOR ALL

On the topic of swapping gear, our next trick is one item in specific, one that gives every single class the ability to slow fall. And that's the Humming Black Dragon Scale.

This level 50 trinket drops from the first boss inside of Ny'alotha, the Waking City.

While this can be utilized on every class, without a slow fall for niche situations, it's specifically good on Guardian Druid flag carriers for when playing Twin Peaks, as you can use a slow fall combined with Wild Charge to get across practically the entire map.

SPEED UP BUFF

Moving on, one of the most overpowered tools in any battleground is the Berserker buff, but on the newly reworked Deep Wind Gorge there's something better, what's known as Speed Up. These buffs are located in two positions, with one on Shrine here, and most importantly, the main one is in the center here.

As you can see on screen now, what this does is reset all of your cooldowns, as well as giving you 30% haste. This is just incredibly overpowered, and every top team puts so much emphasis on controlling these, and for very good reason.

Having a full reset on your Warlock, Balanced Druid, or even Retribution Paladin's cooldowns can change the entire outcome of a teamfight. One way to control these, and how we recommend doing it, is by tracking the respawn, as it respawns every 90 seconds.

This can be done with a weak aura, which we'll again leave in the description below.

NEVER LOSE A BASE

Our tenth and final tip is one every player should know, but you'd be surprised how many times you see this happen. All bases, or nodes for that matter, be it on Battleford Gilneas, Eye of the Storm, or Arathi Basin, all have one thing in common.

They take six seconds to cap. Knowing this fact, you should never lose your base 1v1.

How you do this is by always keeping distance from the flag. As long as you have a ranged ability to spin with, which every class does, you can always defend the base as long as you're in a 1v1.

One trick you may have seen a rogue try to do is cap inside of their own smoke bomb. Well, smoke bomb lasts five seconds, and as we now know, assaulting the base takes six.

So never, unless there is two players, should you walk inside of a smoke bomb. Always remain max range and spin with your ranged attacks.

That way, it becomes near impossible for you to lose the base.
